Bricks & Brews. The Brickyard Brewery is currently located next to the former boarding house of the long retired Brick Plant, approximately 2 miles south west of Strasburg, Ohio. The brickyard dates back to the late 1800's. There is little that remains of the original brickyard other than piles of brick and parts of a couple buildings. The boarding house for transient workers is now a residence on the property. We would ask that if anybody has pictures of the brickyard in its' early days, please let us know. We have some old wooden brick molds with the zinc Dover stamp. The wooden molds would have been hand packed, air dried for several days or even weeks and then the bricks would have been kiln dried. In these early days the quality of the bricks would vary greatly due to the hand packing, air drying and then the uneven heat in the kilns. There are also some original bricks of various sizes and shapes. There are some other antiquities but little remains of the original brick plant. A major part of the plant was recycled into bricks for patios and walkways and sold all over America. The steel was recycled at Luntz's in Canton Ohio - You are possibly driving in a vehicle that has parts made from this recycled steel.

The Brew Crew at Bullfrog Brewery
We will be producing hand crafted brews in small batches. Initially it should be available by the 1/6 barrel or 1/2 gallon growler. Some of our brews will be: BrickYard Porter, Outhouse Stout, Pugmill Porter, Kiln Ale, R-n-G Lite, Lemon Lager (the ladies beer) and Red Brick Irish Ale. We will also have a brew on premise system where you can come in and make a batch of your favorite beer in about 2 hours, then come back 2 weeks later and bottle your own creation. This site will also contain links to brew sites, specialty sites etc. We are also great supporters of home brewed beers.
